Since online ticket sales have mostly been dominated by the big chains, independent cinemas in Sweden have had a tough time as audiences tend to go where it’s easiest. So Biografcentralen initiated the online ticket platform Bio.se to bring smaller, independent theaters together under one umbrella.

Working with Biografcentralen, it eventually became clear this was actually a perfect example of why biodiversity matters. Just like nature needs different species to thrive, the cinema scene depends on a mix of venues to stay alive and vibrant. This insight became the heart of the brand and messaging. Using “Biodiversitet” (a play on the word “bio” – cinema in Swedish) to spotlight the power of diversity for a vibrant film culture, Bio.se became more than a partnership. It turned into a movement to empower independent cinemas.
