Exhibiting the Autumn/Winter launches
Challenge
Seasonal fashion campaigns typically compete in a saturated promotional landscape dominated by discounts, repetitive imagery, and standardized retail displays. As a result, brand communication risks blending into an undifferentiated stream of commercial messaging.
For NK, the challenge was to launch the Spring/Summer collection in a way that elevated perception and differentiated the campaign from conventional retail advertising.
The objective was to transform the campaign into an experience that matched the cultural status of the department store while generating attention within and beyond the retail environment.

Solution
The concept Vårmodesalong (“Spring Fashion Salon”) was developed, drawing inspiration from Vårsalongen — a well-known Swedish exhibition where emerging and established artists present new work each spring.
The campaign adopted the structure and codes of an art exhibition:
• Two-sided “art pieces” installed in advertising displays, allowing the works to function both as fashion imagery and as gallery-style objects.
• An art catalogue presenting the campaign as a curated collection rather than a traditional fashion lookbook.
• A physical exhibition inside Nordiska Kompaniet, where the campaign installations were displayed as if they were works in a gallery setting.
By borrowing the institutional language of exhibitions — catalogues, curated pieces, and gallery presentation — the campaign repositioned fashion promotion as a cultural event.
Outcome
The campaign extended the reach of the Spring/Summer launch beyond conventional retail channels by integrating advertising, publishing, and physical exhibition.
The exhibition format transformed in-store displays into a cultural experience, strengthening the association between NK and the traditions of art, design, and craftsmanship embedded in the department store’s identity.
The campaign also generated increased attention through its hybrid format, merging retail communication with exhibition culture.
